Olive & Ember opened in late 2023, built by a sommelier-chef duo who wanted a room where neighbours came for a glass and stayed for dinner. Every plate is seasonal, built around Victorian producers we've known for years. The wine list leans natural, low-intervention, and is re-written monthly by hand.
The room is small — 38 seats around an open kitchen — and it's candle-lit after six. We think of it less as a restaurant and more as a long table you're invited to join.




Dining is our everyday. But we also host a weekly tasting flight on Wednesday evenings, run private dining for groups up to 20 in our back room, and pack takeaway cheese and charcuterie boards on Friday afternoons for picnics in Fitzroy Gardens.
Yes — we hold 40% of tables for walk-ins each service. For Friday and Saturday evenings, bookings are strongly recommended.
We welcome BYO on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at $25 per bottle, max two bottles per table. Please no wines already on our list.
Absolutely. We always have vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. Let us know when you book and we'll take good care of you.

Street parking after 6pm on Gertrude Street. Fitzroy Town Hall car park is a three-minute walk and is free after 7pm.
